One of the flower people

Mim lived at Sunrise, an assisted living facility in Wayland, Massachusetts, from 2015 through 2020. Her time at Sunrise was lively. She joined in practically every planned activity that she could, and made some of her own.

An ardent garden club member, arranger, flower show judge, etc., Mim continued to indulge her lifelong interest at Sunrise. Fresh flowers were frequently brought in, but of course, they were rarely arranged to satisfy her exacting requirements. The staff would find her behind the counter in the cafe, surrounded by flowers in disarray, but soon enough she would produce something more beautiful than ever. Several times she told me a grounds-keeper growled at her when she went to take some greenery clippings from around the building!

One Valentine’s Day, Suzie thought Mim might like to arrange her own flowers for the occasion. The florist was SO helpful. Besides the flowers, she provided all the rest of the materials Mim would need to create her own — greens, basket, needle bed, oasis. Mim had a wonderful time creating her floral art. Her arrangement, pictured above, was on display in the Bistro at Sunrise for all to enjoy.
